Yesterday we lost our teddy bear of a ferret, Dust.

Dust was found as a stray, covered in 1,000+ ticks and petrified of people. He would scream in fright if a human tried to approach him. After 2 lots of surgeries to remove all the ticks, and lots and lots of TLC from Linda (who had named him Timmy Tick) at our local rescue, we were lucky enough to have been able to give him a home here with us for the past 6 years. He was about 8 years old.

He was a fantastic ferret, the gentlest of the gentle. He used to come to PR events with us (I'm sure Clive and Suz and Tina might remember him?) and used to enjoy the attention he got from children wanting to cuddle him. Even in the vet surgery yesterday a little girl saw him and made friends with him, he loved it right to the end.

He loved walks. He especially loved albino girls and would ALWAYS sleep with them, couldn't get enough of his blondies. He was brilliant with the babies when introduced, looking after them and teaching them to play. In this last year it is the young ones who were looking after him, helping keep him clean and making sure he had someone to cuddle up with.

He spent his last afternoon with me in the office. His tummy was full of RCC, mince and he had lots of licks of ferret oil. I fed him a tiny bit of ham which he adored in the vet waiting room.  It was time for his arthritic pains to end, his worn down teeth to rest and for Dust to go be with all his friends over the bridge. He went to sleep licking his favourite treat.

We love you Dust. DIP xx

 :angel1: Sweet Dreams Dust  :angel1:

So sorry for your loss, Mel and Christian, it is hopefully a comfort to you, that he had such a good remainder of his life after such a bad start, and learned to trust people. :adore:
